Case Studies: Use of NCS in Education
CREATE - Colour Research for European Advanced Technology Employment
Six Universities across Europe , led by the University of the West of England, have collaborated on this 4 year programme called CREATE with a long term objective of developing a cross disciplinary approach to improving colour and print.
We were delighted to take part in last year's series of seminars and lectures 'On Fabric' hosted by INTERFACE at the University of Belfast. Marilyn Sturgeon, Director of NCS Colour Centre demonstrated how the NCS System can be used creatively and practically in textile design. The 2010CREATE Programme of Events continues at Gjovik University College, Norway, from 8-11 June 2010.
FÁS Training Centre - Cork, IrelandFÁS, the National Training and Employment Authority is a state run organisation. In our Department we run two courses. One is a painting and decorating course for apprentices and the other is a signwriting course which teaches people in both computer generated and traditional methods of signwriting.
To maximise efficiency we share facilities and materials. Colour is a vital element in both practice and theory on both courses and we find the NCS system of exercises an excellent way of imparting colour knowledge and appreciation to our students.
